A move may provide a whole new lease of life, but a wrong choice can be difficult to undo. Our site provides information about every retirement scheme, development or village in the UK, to help you make the right choice.

We think it’s important you have detailed, comprehensive information so that you can decide which care providers to shortlist. The team focuses on care packages that are appropriate to individual need, while supporting active lifestyles and the pursuit of sound mental health. The CQC is required by law to monitor the Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and to report on what we find.

We have recently been able to open EAC Advice, a new 'housing options' advice service for older people. As with hotels, the cost of living in a care home varies widely according to its location, the size of your room or suite, and the facilities on offer. There is often a substantial difference between fees charged to those who can afford the costs themselves and those who receive help from their Local Authority. A majority of homes aim to cater for both, but some target only one or the other. A care home is a residential setting where a number of older people live, usually in single rooms or hotel-style suites, because they need regular or continuous access to care.

Along with our excellent staffing levels, our Homes are equipped with the very best equipment to assist the team in going about their duties and ensuring the comfort and safety of those we care for. Quality of life is as much a right for the terminally ill as for everyone else; at Elizabeth Finn Homes we believe that compassionate care for both the chronically and terminally ill can improve the quality of their lives. At Halliwell we provide for those who are terminally ill, with care that focuses on the control of pain and symptoms . Eileen’s passion for care of the elderly grew and she joined Halliwell in 2015 as the Clinical Care Manager/Deputy Manager. Having built a strong Clinical team and fostered a great team ethic amongst the staff Eileen became the General Manager in July 2019.

Wherever possible, Inspectorate reports and grades are accessible from the housing-with-care pages on this website. People had an assessment of their needs and a care plan that ensured these were met. People received timely personal care and told us that staff were responsive to their health needs. Risks to people’s welfare or safety had been assessed and steps taken to minimise the risk whilst allowing people to remain as independent as possible. The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

Staffing

Many of our long term residents have previously stayed with us on a short stay basis. Whatever the reason for your stay, you will be afforded the same high standards of care and assessment as our longer-term residents. Many of our residents lead full and active lives, yet welcome the 24 hour a day security of a professional, personalised care environment and the opportunity to live amongst like-minded individuals .

The home was purpose-built in attractive surroundings, offers lift access to all floors and includes a call system that allows residents to reach skilled carers from anywhere in the grounds. Some people were not able to talk to us directly about their experiences due to their complex needs, so we used a number of different methods to help us understand their experiences. For example observations, reading records and speaking with relatives. A range of options were in place to support people with their independence and to help reduce their risk of social isolation. People’s hobbies and interests were encouraged by staff who wanted to make a difference to people’s individual lives. Staff understood what keeping people safe meant and they were knowledgeable about the appropriate reporting procedures.

There is easy access to public transport including a main line station. The home can be easily reached by car, and there is sufficient parking for staff and visitors at the front of the house. The home is currently in the process of going through an extensive building and refurbishment programme.

Some care homes are registered to provide personal care only, for example help with washing, dressing and giving medication. Others also provide nursing, and will have a nurse on duty twenty-four hours a day. Care services offered to people in housing-with-care facilities are regulated, subject to periodic inspections and awarded grades.

Seven Springs – Care Home Physical Disabilities

Relatives and visitors we spoke with commented “I am very impressed at how bright the home is and how cheerful people are. There is always lots of laughter in the dining room, people are having fun” and “Staff are very cheerful and helpful”. People and relatives were asked for their views about the service and felt it was well run. People said “this home is run very well” and “I think they work quite hard to get it right”. Risk assessments were in place to help ensure people were kept safe. People’s medicines were managed and administered safely and as prescribed.
